Leon Koh

Leon helms a practice that is predominantly focused on dispute resolution and criminal litigation. Having successfully represented and led a diverse range of matters through trial and appeal stages, he has an established and proven track record. Often commended by the Courts for providing “helpful” and “detailed” written submission, Leon’s oral advocacy has also been described by judges as “eloquent” and “strong”. Adopting an intensely client-centric approach to his practice, Leon is highly revered by his devoted clientele base (consisting of companies and individuals) for his commercial acumen, practicality and responsiveness.

Representative case experience as Lead Counsel:-

 

Commercial / Construction Matters

  • Represented a construction company in a contractual dispute against a local TELCO for claims over SGD 2.5 million;

  • Represented a security services company in a contractual dispute against a construction company for invoices valued at around SGD 1 million;

  • Represented a logistics company in a shareholders’ dispute over shares of a Food and Beverage industry company valued at over SGD 2.8 million;

  • Represented a construction company in a construction dispute against a sub-contractor for works amounting to over SGD 1.1 million;

  • Represented an educational institute in claims involving a franchise agreement and securities in a SIAC Arbitration;

  • Represented a Taiwanese national in a cross-border related appeal for shares in a pharmaceutical company worth over SGD 2 million; and

  • Represented an individual in an employment claim against a private bank for bonuses amounting to over SGD 800,000.

 

Criminal Litigation

  • Represented a  construction company over trial for a regulatory offence under Section 85(2) of the Electricity Act;

  • Represented an individual over trial for offences pertaining to the Productivity and Innovation Credit Scheme under Section 37(J)(4) of the Income Tax Act;

  • Represented an individual in a Magistrate’s Appeal which led to a new sentencing framework for offences under Section 44(1)(a) of the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act;

  • Represented an individual in a Magistrate’s Appeal (after trial) for cheating offences under Section 420 of the Penal Code;

  • Representing various individuals for offences under Section 5 and 6 of the Prevention of Corruption Act; and

  • Representing an individual on trial for a novel offence under Section 6 of the Human Trafficking Act.
